COMPETITION RULES
The International Classical Guitar Composition Competition “Alvaro Company” 2025 aims to enrich the contemporary repertoire of the six-stringed instrument, stimulating young composers to create new and vibrant music for and with guitar.
Art. 01
The competition is open to composers of any nationality, without age limits.
Art. 02
The competition is dedicated to the composition of a work for solo guitar with six strings, lasting between 5 and 9 minutes. Each competitor can also participate with more compositions by sending a registration form for each composition.
Art. 03
The compositions sent must be unpublished, never performed in public concerts, never winning results in past editions of the competition.
Art. 04
Each author will be responsible for verifying the actual playability of the pieces. Failure to comply with this verification will result in exclusion from the competition. However, the authors can include in the score all the indications they deem necessary (fingerings, explanations of signs, spellings or unusual techniques).
Art. 05
Modalities of participation. No later than September 15th, each competitor is required to:
Fill in the Application Form, which can be also downloaded online from the website www.florenceguitarfestival.it. Be aware that Applications lacking the required annexes or incomplete will not be considered valid.
Send the Music Score via email to info@florenceguitarfestival.it in pdf format, showing the title clearly and legibly chosen either a motto or a pseudonym; if you have an audio in mp3, please send it as an attachment. The email must have as subject "International Florence Composition Competition Alvaro Company 2025"
.Send, by e-mail to info@florenceguitarfestival.it the following documents with handwritten signature, in pdf format:
- the Application Form duly filled in legibly and signed in all its parts with name and surname, the complete residential address (postal address, telephone, e-mail, possible website) with the signed declaration certifying that the composition is unpublished and never performed in public;
- a valid telephone number for any communications;
- a recent artistic photo;
- a copy of the Curriculum vitae (Resume) updated in September 2025;
- copy of a valid identity card or passport;
- the reregistration fee payment receipt.
Art. 06
Failure to comply with one of the above rules will result in exclusion from the competition itself. The handwritten parts of the application and the relative declarations must be easily legible and in one of the official languages of the Competition (Italian, English).
Art. 07
The registration fee for the competition is €50,00 (fifty/00 EURO) and can be paid by bank transfer to Centro Studi Musica e Arte, Via Pietrapiana 32, 50121 Florence (Italy), using the following bank details:

All bank charges are payable by the person making the transfer. Registration fees are non-refundable.
Art. 08
The Jury may award all or part of the prizes indicated in this announcement. The Jury's decisions are final. The jury is composed of Ganesh Del Vescovo, Vincenzo Saldarelli, Giorgio Albiani, Erika Baldi, and Stefania Di Blasio.
Art. 09
First Prize: €600.00 (six hundred/00) + publication of the winning composition by “Edizioni Musicali Sinfonica” www.sinfonica.com. In addition, the winning composition will be performed for the first time during the Florence Guitar Festival 2026.
The winning composition will be announced during the Florence Guitar Festival 2025 and published on the website www.florenceguitarfestival.it. The Second and Third Prize winners will receive a Diploma of Merit in public on the same evening.
Art. 10
A copy of the works entered in the competition will remain available at the library of the Centro Studi Musica & Arte, Impresa sociale.
Art. 11
By applying to participate in the Competition, participants unconditionally accept all the rules set out in these regulations.
